Office Relocation Disruption
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 29 August 2007 16:40

The college office is relocating and there will be considerable disruption to office operations for the next two or three weeks. Email and telephone will be affected for the next few days but we expect to resume a limited service from the middle of next week. The website will be unaffected, permitting students to continue accessing study materials and download modules. For now, please continue to use the old mailing address as all post will be redirected. However, please note that from this new academic year all assignments must be submitted electronically and not by post (see notice on student pages).

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, and we thank you for bearing with us during this major transition. Your patience is much appreciated. Keep an eye on the website for some important announcements over the next two or three weeks.

King's Evangelical Divinity School (formerly Midlands Bible College and Divinity School) Principal Dr Calvin Smith has been invited to South Africa by Dave Royle and Aletheia Community Church to teach on a range of topics during September (Dave is a good friend of the college doing an excellent work in South Africa and elsewhere.) Throughout the seven sessions Dr Smith will be exploring issues such as the role of biblical theology in hermeneutics, the Church's relationship with both biblical and modern Israel, the challenges and opportunities postmodernism presents Christians with, and biblical responses to specific political issues. All of the sessions will be held at Aletheia Community Church, 6 Van der Stel Street, Strubenvale, Springs (Contact Dave Royle on 011 815 3900, cell 082 373 9297). They are open to all, and some of King's South Africa-based students plan to attend at least some of them. It is hoped other South African students and those interested in taking a course with King's Evangelical Divinity School might be able to attend at least several of the studies. The dates are as follows: -

Further to our email to students and friends of the college on 28 March, last week we received confirmation that an important legal issue has been overcome that permits us to move forward with our relocation and college ministry development plans. More news to come shortly, which will be posted on the student pages and in the next newsletter to students. We thank God for His grace and guidance, as well as His people for all their prayers and support. Keep praying!

Come to the Lord, a local, limited release CD of original Christian music written and performed by Chris Lazenby, was released on June 26th 2007. Several of the songs have been composed especially for the album, which is being sold to raise funds for the work and ministry of the Midlands Bible College. All the words and music, with the exception of the words of the Lord's Prayer and Agnus Dei, are original, written and performed by Chris. The CD contains 14 tracks (running time 52 mins) and costs GBP 8.99, which includes postage and packing.

Chris Lazenby has worked as a professional in the music industry for many years, and, for the last twenty years, mainly in the area of recording (although he is organist and choirmaster of his local parish church in Silsden, W.Yorks). The CD is available either directly from Class Music at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or from the Midlands Bible College (see College Shop, right, under "Audio CDs").

Please consider buying a copy of this excellent Christian album. Not only will you be blessed by the music and words, but you will also be helping the college's ministry. Our deepest and sincere thanks to Chris Lazenby for composing and compiling this wonderful Christian album.

Several of the songs on this album were entered into the UK Songwriting Contest, which is co-sponsored by The Brits and the World Music Foundation. Chris' songs reached the finals, but one of them, "For You and Me", won the Christian/Faith category. Full details can be found at http://www.songwritingcontest.co.uk/ (then click on 2007 Results and enter Chris Lazenby's surname). Of course, we are very excited that something which began as a college fundraiser ended up winning a major music competition.
