On 24th March the Midlands Bible College organised another trip to the British Museum, London. Seventeen people participated in the lecture tour, which was led by college lecturer Julian Spriggs. During the tour, the group visited various exhibit halls, viewed and discussed many artefacts, and learned first-hand about Bible history.
Georg Zangl, a Midlands Bible College undergraduate student from Austria, visited the UK to take part in the tour. He said, " I had the chance to see so many items, contemporary witnesses of the prophets and kings of Israel, that it is really hard to decide, which onces impressed me most." He referred to several artefacts that caught his attention, including "the letter of Lachish, written on a piece of pottery shortly before Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the city. This was the time when the exile of the Jews began. History begins to live, when you see those remains." Sarah Dauvin is another undergraduate student at the college. After the tour she wrote and said, "Please thank Julian for the wonderful tour... It brought parts of the Old Testament alive as he unfolded the history behind the artefacts he chose to show us. I have not stopped talking about it since coming back to Southampton, even the lady who served me in the Halifax got a condensed version". Sarah very kindly sent us some photos to post on this site, and we have included a selection here. The British Museum trips are a regular feature of studying at the Midlands Bible College. Not only do they provide tangible interaction with the world of the Bible, but students can also earn university credits towards their degree programme. As well as students, friends of the college and prospective students are also most welcome to participate in these trips. The next visit to the British Museum will be on 6th October (11.15 am for an 11.30 am start). The fee is £12 (excluding travel to and from London, which students organise themselves). Email the college now to express your interest and book a space for this exciting event, as places are limited. Alternatively, visit the online college shop to book and pay for a place (see Other Fees & Payments in the College Shop menu).
