Latest College News PDF Print E-mail

It has been a particularly busy time since Christmas and there is a lot going on. Catch up with some of the latest news and notices here.

Hermeneutics programme (Bachelor stage). The college discussed this matter further with the university last week. We will soon be in a position to finalise the programme, the aim being to do so in plenty of time before current Diploma student s reach the end of their programme.

Electronic submission of assignments. We haven't forgotten about this! We are waiting for the university to finalise what we have requested for some time. As soon as we have news, we'll let you know. Don't forget that if you are a Knowing Your Bible student all work can and should already be submitted electronically.

Principal on radio etc. Last week, London's Premier Radio contacted MBC Principal Dr Calvin Smith for an expert opinion on whether or not church ministers and workers should be paid. On another note, Calvin's research has now been published (see here for details of the book). This is an exceptionally busy year for him. He is visiting the U.S. next month to do some research at Princeton and then speaking at a church; he is the main speaker at a conference hosted by the University of Utrecht, Holland, in May; and he will be delivering a paper on biblical theology and the modern state of Israel at the Tyndale Fellowship, Cambridge. Calvin has also been invited to speak at a number of venues in South Africa in September (organised by our good friend Dave Royle), and will also be leading a college trip to Israel in October. Somewhere between all this he will be visiting Cuba for field research for his next book, together with several other speaking engagements abroad currently being organised.

MA Programme. Work continues on this massive project. Keep up to date with developments as we post them on the link to the left of this page.

New journal a success. The Evangelical Review of Society and Politics, founded by Calvin Smith and Stephen Vantassel and blessed with an excellent international editorial committee of leading Evangelical scholars, has now published its first edition. It has met with great success and we are excited about this project. Keep up to date by visiting the website.

Assignments marked. Preliminary marks are now available for work submitted in January. Call the office if you want details of your mark, but remember nothing is final until they have been moderated. We have seen a record number of assignments submitted this academic year (and we are only half-way through!). Keep those essays coming, and remember the next submission date is 31 March.

British Museum trip. We have a few places (probably 3 or 4) left for this exciting event, which takes place later this month. Details can be found here.

Israel trip. We now need you to confirm your support so we can begin finalising this. If you are interested details can be emailed to you. Don't miss what has been a most exciting, education and thoroughly enjoyable event on past occasions.
