New audio download exploring Pentecost and Tongues PDF Print E-mail

In March 2006, the Midlands Bible College held an all-day seminar exploring the feast of Pentecost and how it sheds light on the purpose of speaking in tongues as described in Acts 2. Dr Calvin Smith brings an exegetical approach to this thorny topic, focusing especially on a Jewish approach focusing on the feast of Pentecost (which to date has been under-researched by scholars).

The sessions are based on substantial original research carried out by Dr Smith, who is currently researching this topic in order to prepare a scholarly journal article for eventual publication. Dr Smith states:

"I was raised a Pentecostal, then flirted with cessationism, so I have explored this issue from both sides of the fence. Yet now, I no longer have a theological axe to grind as such. When I embarked on my research into Acts 2 I was simply interested in exploring this topic at as deep a level as I could in order to achieve some certainty on some of these issues, once and for all, from a scholarly perspective. Yet my research yielded some interesting facts. Anyone listening to these studies, whether Pentecostal, Cessationist, or simply those interested to know more, need not feel that I am out to attack their doctrinal stance. Rather, I simply want to take this opportunity to explain fully the results of my research to date."

This study is now available as an audio download. Alternatively, a double CD is now available from the college. For price details and to order, visit our online shop (see links on the right of the page).
