The Midlands Bible College is currently working towards offering all its courses online. In other words, providing you have an internet connection, the whole learning experience will be available through your computer. Currently, we provide a great deal of online access and tutorial support, including an intranet containing theological resources, and also downloads of certain study materials. Yet most of the study packs are currently mailed to students in CD-Rom format. The disadvantages of such a system are obvious, for example, having to wait for postal deliveries, added administration (and therefore tuition) costs, and on the whole a slower distance learning experience. In a digital age, people are keen to progress at their own speed without having to wait for postal deliveries. Recently, the college has been making great strides towards providing a full online programme. Towards the end of 2006 we developed several undergraduate modules for instant download, removing the need to wait for postal deliveries and enabling students to begin studying immediately after purchasing a module online. We have now begun extending the downloads to cover all our modules. We kicked off the new year with the production of a handful of new digital download modules, while we are aiming to supply all our modules via digital download by June this year. Moreover, because the first few modules for both our programmes can now be downloaded, any new student offered a study place at the college can begin downloading straight away. This means there are no lengthy delays in beginning your chosen study programme. Moreover, while CD-Rom study packs will continue to be made available, digital downloads are available at a lower fee because they incur fewer administration costs. Thus, opting for digital downloads and burning your own module CD-Roms saves students 15% on our standard fee structure. Plans are also underway to offer our proposed new Master of Arts programme as a series of digital downloads. To view and purchase module downloads, visit the college shop (to right of page) and select "Modules (instant downloads)". |
