King's is organising a lecture tour of the British Museum, London, on Saturday 22 April. The tour, which will cover a range of exhibits of great interest to the Bible student and exegete, will be led by Julian Spriggs MA and include a number of very useful short lectures and explanations of the significance of the exhibits from a biblical perspective.
Students who have not yet submitted their assignment for module 102 (Old Testament Survey) are able to use the trip to the museum as a basis for an alternative assignment.
The group will meet outside the Museum at 11.15 am for an 11.30 am start. There will be two sessions (each lasting around 1 1/2 to 2 hours), with a break for lunch in between. You may bring a packed lunch, or are free to visit one of the many restaurants and snack bars within the immediate vicinity of the museum. The tour of the museum will be completed by around 4 - 4.30 pm, leaving you some free time to spend in the museum alone looking at other items if you want. This could also be a good opportunity to bring your spouse and spend some time in the Capital to shop etc (Oxford St and all the main shopping is close by to the museum).
The cost is £10 per person, to ver our lecturer's expenses and administration. We need a minimum of 10 people are needed to proceed. Otherwise the trip will be postponed. Please note there are a maximum of 15 places. You will need to cover your own costs to get to and from London.
This is an exciting opportunity to see some of the valuable artifacts the museum has that have a direct bearing on biblical history, and to have them explained in detail in relation to the Bible narrative by an experienced lecturer who has led this tour many times before.
Places are on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please email the college or call the office on 08700 421704 to be included on the list. |
