The next tour of the British Museum will take place on Saturday 21st June, led by MBCDS lecturer Julian Spriggs. We would like to encourage all students and friends of the college to consider joining this exciting tour, even if you do not normally enjoy going round museums, of even if history was your least favourite subject at school! In the U.K. we are very privileged to have easy access to this amazing collection of archaeological artifacts, many of which have a direct connection to important people or events of the Old Testament. Seeing and learning about these artifacts helps us see that the Bible really is rooted in history. Our faith is strengthened as we see that God acted in history, and that the archaeological evidence consistently supports the accounts recorded in the Bible. Scroll down the page to see some photos of a previous trip. On the tour we will see four thousand year old artifacts from Babylonia contemporary with Abraham, then some from ancient Egypt at the time of the Exodus, and Israel at the time of Joshua and the judges. We will also see many wall carvings showing the Assyrians, who were used by God to judge the northern kingdom of Israel. There are also objects from the time of Nebuchadnezzar, and the Persians. Here are some comments from people who joined earlier tours: “History begins to live, when you see those remains” "I had the chance to see so many items, contemporary witnesses of the prophets and kings of Israel, that it is really hard to decide which ones impressed me most." “It brought parts of the Old Testament alive ...” The cost is £12 (excluding travel to London). If you would like to join the tour, you can book through the college shop. As with all other successful trips to the Museum, we look forward again to what promises to be an exciting study time and fellowship together.
